Overview

In the wild and rugged landscape of the Priorat, lies a dramatic struggle for survival of the vine. A unique atmosphere that captivates nature and winelovers alike. In 2003, Joan and Josep Cusiné together with their wives MªElena Jiménez and Marta Casas (winemakers in Parés Baltà) and the winemaker Jordi Fernandez, started a new and exciting project in the Priorat region. That was the beginning of Gratavinum whose name comes from the contraction of Gratallops (the name of the village where the winery is located) and Vinum, which means wine in Latin.

Award Winning Wines

Silvestris Ranks Among Best Natural Wines in the World — Decanter. An “ambassador for Priorat´s wines and rugged land.”

Silvestris, from Gratavinum, has been selected as one of the 30 best natural wines in the world by Decanter, via a blind tasting with more than 100 different wines from around the world participating.

Meet celebrated winemaker Jordi Fernandez

The winemaker-owner of Gratavinum cloves hosting people at the winery facility beyond Gratallops, one of the 12 village ‘zones’ of DOQ Priorat. There you can smell the dampness in the air while passing steep terraced vineyards streaked with the grey-and-black quartz-rich slate soil unique to Priorat known as llicorella. ‘Gratallops has 250 inhabitants, seven restaurants and 25 wineries – literally one winery for every 10 inhabitants,’ Fernandez says.
