Harvest in the Square 2019

by tarynlachter
There are food festivals, and then there are culinary extravaganzas that will stun and delight you.

Harvest in the Square is a 24-year-old tradition that takes place in our glorious Union Square Park.

It celebrates the magnificence that is the New York City food scene while supporting the health of the park itself.

This fantastic event now boasts over 50 vendors, when it started with just 20 back in 1995 when Danny Meyer created the concept.

Harvest in the Square is a 24-year-old tradition that takes place in our glorious Union Square Park that celebrates the magnificence that is the New York City food scene while supporting the health of the park itself.

This fantastic event now boasts over 50 vendors, when it started with just 20 back in 1995 when Danny Meyer created the concept. Nowadays, you can find everything from microbreweries to wineries, fresh greenmarket selections, and tastes from New York’s hottest restaurants and bakeries. There are samples from every cuisine, carefully crafted pairings, and so much more that will delight your tastebuds.

For many years, Union Square has been a hub for the culinary phenomena of our city, especially when you consider the magic that has been curated by Danny Meyer. As chefs and restaurateurs came to fame, they were clambering to have a spot on the ever famous park as it is a central destination for tourists and locals alike.

Harvest in the Square wasn’t created just for the chefs to show off their wares but for the citizens of this city to unite around the spectacular food life we have. Executive Director of Union Square Partnership, the organization that hosts this event, Jennifer Falk notes “This event has really created a community feeling and a family feeling, and it shows the strength of the culinary community in Union Square.”

Although food and wine festivals are commonplace in our city and around the country, they weren’t when this event began almost 25 years ago. The intention has never changed, however, and the goal will always be to “celebrate the greenmarket and glory of Union Square itself as a historic meeting place for New Yorker’s while raising contributions to support beautification efforts and annual event programs,” Falk states.

You won’t want to miss the 2019 Harvest in the Square event, we promise. So go ahead and grab your tickets now, and get ready for an outstanding evening of delicious food, locally sourced wine and beers, and meet your New York neighbors.

Wines Aged in Spirit Barrels
Barrel-aging is a key attribute to winemaking. It’s part of the process that is called élevage, which in French refers to maturing of flavors that happens during bottling and fermenting. Italy – Discover the Primitivo Grape
If you’ve heard of Zinfandel, then you are aware (perhaps unknowingly) of its twin, Primitivo. Primitivo has been around for far longer but has gotten much less publicity than it’s fraternal counterpart, the Zin. Currently, the former resides in Puglia, Italy but it arrived there via Croatia somewhere in the 1700s. It went fairly unnoticed - Read More
